The Story Behind Knot & Nectar

This brand didn’t start as a business. It started out of love and necessity, then became a passion. Years ago, when my children were small, they struggled with eczema, chapped hands-sometimes to the point of cracking and bleeding, and even psoriasis on the scalp. Doctors wanted them on year-round steroids, and something inside me said there had to be a gentler way.

I searched everywhere for natural options — but what I found was “natural” in name only. Most products relied on petrolatum and fillers that sat on top of the skin instead of nourishing anything underneath. They didn’t soothe. They didn’t heal. And I didn’t want that to be my children’s only option. Others in my family were also struggling with their skin, I knew I wasn't alone.

So I turned to nature.

I began studying oils and butters- the kind that come from seeds, flowers, and roots. When my kids were at school,  I would stand at my kitchen counter learning how each ingredient worked — which ones calmed inflammation, which absorbed deeply, which supported the skin barrier without steroids or synthetics.

What started as a mother’s determination slowly became a craft that carried me through many seasons of life. As a single mom, these homemade remedies were not only safer and more effective — they were also something I could afford. Over time, creating skincare became a source of peace, creativity, and grounding for me.

Years later, after leaving an unhealthy marriage and rebuilding my life, I found myself with a quiet house. My youngest of five had just graduated, and for the first time in decades, I felt space opening around me — a moment where I could ask, What now?

And the answer was clear:
It’s time to bring this into the world.

Knot & Nectar is the culmination of years of learning, resilience, and the belief that skincare should truly nourish — not mask problems, not rely on harsh prescriptions, and not pretend to be natural while hiding ingredients that do nothing for the skin.

Every product is handmade in small batches with botanical ingredients that penetrate, support, and restore. They’re the same kinds of formulas I crafted for my own family, born from the belief that nature offers what we need when we know where to look.
